About Me
I am Peter Garrard, a Gloucestershire based artist and sculptor. I gained a 1st class honours degree in 3D Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and spent six months studying Ceramics at Alfred University in New York State, USA.
I create ceramic sculpture for exhibition using a range of hand-building techniques. In addition to this I also produce one-off pieces to commission.
Much of my work is based on the human figure.
I often work in shallow relief as a means of exploring narrative. Art history and particularly pre-Renaissance Biblical imagery are potent sources of inspiration for me.
Travel and a love of architecture has resulted in numerous sculptures of buildings over the years, while my love of texture and mark-making are an inherent feature of all my work.
Some of my work I repeat on a regular basis whilst other pieces are unique. Email me to make a purchase or in order to discuss a possible commission at petergarrardceramics@yahoo.com.
Some of my birdhouses are for sale from spring 2012 at New Brewery Arts, Cirencester.
