I am Peter Garrard, a Gloucestershire based artist and clay sculptor. I gained a 1st class honours degree in 3D Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and studied Ceramics at Alfred University in New York State, USA.
I create functional and sculptural hand built ceramics for the home and garden from my studio in Gloucester. I regularly exhibit and make bespoke pieces to commission. Some of my work I repeat on a regular basis whilst other pieces are unique.
As an artist I am interested in the visual world around me. At different times I become absorbed in the human figure, architecture or the natural world; pretty much everything! However, underlying much of my work is a fascination in artefacts from the past such as ancient Chinese bronzes, medieval carvings and pre-Renaissance biblical imagery.
I am also a professional tutor with extensive experience in secondary and further education and offer a range of art classes, pottery courses and ceramics workshops for adults and children.
I am currently running range of classes in Ceramic Sculpture and Pottery as well as in Painting and Drawing and Watercolours. I also run educational and leisure workshops in Gloucester, Cheltenham, the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire for adults and children.
