Educational Pottery and Ceramic Sculpture Workshops with Peter Garrard

I have many years experience teaching Clay Pottery and Ceramic Sculpture at secondary, sixth form and college level and I have run workshops with primary school children in Cheltenham and Gloucester.

I offer a wide range of clay pottery and ceramic sculpture actives for all ages from Year 1 through to adult. Tasks can include making models of animals, faces and monsters to building a wide variety of pots or even creating ambitious individual ceramic sculptures.

Workshops can be for a small group, a class, a year group or as a whole school activity. I recently worked for a day with a Year 3 year group of 55, making models based on their research into Aztec Gods.

I have a wide variety of projects available or I can develop one to fit themes being worked on in the school and the National Curriculum.

If you would like to talk about an idea for a clay pottery workshop or discuss other projects I have run, please contact me.

Working on an animal sculpture

‘A fantastic day for the children. They learnt a lot of valuable sculpture skills and created some beautiful sculptures.
Mr Garrard was brilliant and explained step by step how to model the components, fix the sculpture together and apply the finishes.

The children were very enthusiastic about these projects and experienced a wonderful learning experience’.

Alternatively the students can use air drying clay and paint it once it is fully dry.

I can supply a risk assessments for each pottery workshop.
I have public liability insurance up to £5m.
Group Size is dependent on the activity and age of the students but can be 15 to 30 per session up to whole schools. Younger children are likely to need some additional adult support for the activity.
I have worked with many groups of varying abilities and experience.
Costs £300 for a full day workshop.
There are also additional costs for any materials I provide, glazing, firing of clay work and delivering finished items. This typically works out at £5 to £10 per person but is dependent on the scale of the work and the number of people participating.
